I did this after being inspired by another artist on dA - I wanted to create my interpretation of Jason, especially since I've been having nightmares about the goofy idiot for the past few nights (no offense meant to goofy idiots).
I'll sum it up as best as I can. I was watching a special recently about how bad comics became after every writer started doing the 'true crime' angle, ie. Pulp Fiction. None of these people knew what true crime is, so none of them were writing about anything they were an authority on. The Exorcist wasn't scary because it had a little girl swearing and spinning her head around and puking all over some priests - that's the entertaining part of the film. It was scary because the priest has a dream where he thinks his dead mom feels like he abandoned her or wasn't there for her. That's horror.
So when doing horror I try to include what I think real horror is - in this case, nuclear war (those pretty stars are a universe full of nuclear explosions), and yet why's that less terrifying than one person with a chainsaw?
I also get people asking what Jason is doing with a chainsaw. Well, it's not turned on.
D: Jason + a chainsaw = hotness! Two things I absolutely love in one. XD I could see Jason using a chainsaw. -shrugs- Besides, if he really did use one, the people in the movies probably would've been dead a looong time ago.
Hmmm... I don't know if I should tell you this or not, as it's gruesome. But you like him, so you're probably okay with gruesome. I was using a chainsaw a couple of summers ago to chop some trees up that were resting against the ground, and the chain pulled all kinds of dirt and twigs and stuff up into the motor until it completely jammed it and the chainsaw wouldn't work anymore. So I was thinking, as far chopping up people goes, it would probably get all gummed up just on the first one. So as effective-looking as it might be, he's actually better off sticking with the machete.
I never saw the original either, but what I saw of the remake the chainsaw just gets used for slicing - which... I guess is realistic? :S lol I hope I'll never know.
I heard that the remake wasn't that good...then again, I heard Scream wasn't that good, but I liked it. So I guess I should see it for myself. :/ A chainsaw...used for slicing? Makes sense. It does seem realistic, since you use a chainsaw to slick tree branches and stuff.
Nope, the remake wasn't good - super pretty interchangeably charisma-less people get trapped in Hicksville, all but one die. Even some of the b-movie flicks from years ago at least tried to make the characters unique. Scream, yep I liked it, though I liked Scary Movie even more. lol
Sounds....dull. :/ Usually the originals are better than the remakes...which is why I'm crossing my fingers for the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. DX Scream was pretty good. I haven't gotten around to watching any of the sequals...I just finished the original Halloween earlier today.
How good is Scary Movie? I've been wanting to see that for a while now. XD
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is lame. It's filled with stupid characters who can't do shit but scream directly into the camera for an hour and a half. The 2003 remake was BOSS.
Wow, definitely a scary image. It's like it crawled out of my nightmares and onto your computer.
I kind of like the blurred effect of this, it makes it a bit scarier in actuality. But I think the chainsaw should look sharper, it would make it look scarier. Maybe add some blood to the tips even.
But I like that the guy is blurrier, it makes him look more menacing, less identifiable. So I like that about the piece.
Besides, a machete is his signature item to kill with. So it's all good.

All in all, very nice work!
